Every scholar is selected through a rigorous screening process designed around a single question:
Is this a person who can be the catalyst to lift their family out of poverty?
All scholarship decisions are made by a formal three-person Scholarship Selection Committee, structured to ensure independent oversight and full compliance with IRS private foundation requirements.
The Committee consists of:
Independent members hold a two-thirds majority on all scholarship decisions. No single member holds veto authority. No disqualified person — as defined under IRC §4946 — controls or dominates the selection process. All decisions are documented and maintained in the Foundation's permanent records.
The SSC's scholarship selections are presumptively final. The Board of Directors commits not to interfere with merit-based selection decisions. However, the Board retains its ultimate fiduciary authority and may reject any SSC selection that would violate the Organization's bylaws, IRS regulations, or board resolutions — solely on compliance or legal grounds, not disagreement with merit judgments.

Scholars receive a half-month bonus for achieving a GPA of 3.8 or higher.
Scholars receive three months of continued support after graduation to help with the transition into the workforce.
Scholars who achieve a grade of 95% of maximum — equivalent to 3.8/4.0 GPA (Thailand), or 9.5/10 (Mexico and Lebanon) — on any semester report card receive a one-time bonus equal to 50% of their monthly scholarship for that semester.

Graduation is a milestone, not an endpoint. Wolverines Academy provides three months of continued support after degree completion to help scholars transition into the workforce. This ensures the investment in their education translates into real economic stability.
We intentionally avoid organizations involved in disaster response, medical research, or other short-term relief efforts. Wolverines Academy keeps its support laser-focused on breaking the cycle of poverty through education, stability, and long-term opportunity. We are looking to break the cycle of poverty, one family at a time.
