Masters Scholarship
My father, a self-employed electrician, lost his work to war and age. My mother never worked. Neither saw university, yet they sacrificed everything so I could be first. Now in Med3, having successfully passed Med1 and Med2, I carry their hopes in every step toward becoming a doctor.
I want to finish my medical degree, hopefully at the top of my class, so I can pursue residency in the US and come back to practice in Lebanon and support the Lebanese community.
In summer 2020, I worked at Pizza Nini's call center just to afford my final year of high school. Once in university, I worked in the financial aid office, earning extra aid to keep affording an education my family alone can never fund.
During last year's war in Lebanon, I helped organize donations of food and essential needs for displaced families in shelters, plus game nights and singing gatherings. This project is still ongoing today, and it taught me that service means presence, not just material aid.
I want to be a physician who brings hope as much as treats illness, and thus plan to specialize in oncology. I plan to train in the US then return to Lebanon to serve my community. This path is deeply personal: my parents sacrificed everything for my dream, and I hope one day to repay them.
